Rolling Up

Duration: 2 Hours

Difficulty: Intermediate-Advanced

Prerequisites: No Skill Requirements, but overall healthy muscles and familiarity with fabric

Description: One of the most exciting spectacles in aerial is that of defying gravity, but there is method to the madness! This workshop explores the technique and theory for rolling up your fabric, whether on the legs, arms, or hips. Skills covered include candy-cane, music box turns, angel rollups, hipkey rollups, and the iconic chest rollup.

C-Circle Theory

Duration: 2 Hours

Difficulty: Intermediate-Advanced

Prerequisites: Double Star, Nice Pike and Backbends, Healthy Ribs

Description: C-Shapes are the compliment to our Hollow-body. So while your hollow allows you to utilize momentum for movement up and down your vertical apparatus, C-shapes complete the same movements through control. The Workshop will begin with a good warmup of the spine in all it’s positions and the floor, and then will transition to a hammock knot, before proceeding with the meat of class. Fabric curriculum includes hipkey rollups, star drops, and saltos.

Belays with Brandon

Duration: 2 Hours

Difficulty: Intermediate

Prerequisites: Strong Inversions

DescriptionBelays are all the rage right now, and in this workshop students will go through a series of unique belays, including a Brandon-Original! After breaking down the theory and running through a few entrance variations, students should feel confident to begin creating new belays in their own practise. Sequencing from belay including shapes, drops, and exits will also be explored.

Foundations of Fabric

Duration: 90 Minutes

Difficulty: Beginning (All Levels)

Prerequisites: None

Description: While he loves show-stopping power moves and extreme drops, Brandon believes that polished basics are the most important part of any aerialist’s repertoire. This workshop covers foundational elements and sequences in single and double-footlocks, hipkeys, and more, with an emphasis on smooth transitions and performance-quality choices. No prerequisites required for this class; aerialists of all levels can enjoy learning, or revisiting these skills. Our focus will be on flexibility, creativity, and polishing!

Sling to the Beat

Duration: 90 Minutes

Difficulty: Beginning-Intermediate

Prerequisites: Familiarity with Aerial Fabric (either as silks or hammock)

Description: This workshop utilizes the Sling (hammock) to introduce students to or further develop Momentum as a tool in their aerial movement arsenal. We cover the more technical aspects and variations of beats, as well as discuss strategies for increasing general efficiency. Some skills covered include elbow circles, no-handed salto, and hipkey rollup.

Spanset Sequencing

Duration: 90 Minutes

Difficulty: Beginning-Intermediate

Prerequisites: None

Description: Spansets (Aerial Loops) are unique and fun, with a lot of versatility to explore! This introduction to Loops teaches a few fun sequences in the hopes that students will fall in love with a new apparatus, and walk away confident to start adding loops to their aerial practise.

Intro to Aerial Straps

Duration: 90 Minutes

Difficulty: Intermediate

Prerequisites: 10 push-ups, straight-leg inversions

Description: Aerial Straps are a simple but difficult apparatus that require an immense amount of strength and technique to achieve proficiency. This intro to straps covers spinning, sequencing on two-hands and single-hand, meathooks, rollups, and duo straps work, with an emphasis on shoulder-girdle prehab and conditioning. Optional work as well on aerial loops/spansets. While this is an introduction, Straps require a great deal of strength, and students should be able to complete basic strength exercises, and be proficient in inversions. THIS WORKSHOP WORKS BEST WITH ADJUSTABLE POINT HEIGHTS IN THE STUDIO SPACE.

Advanced Straps

Duration: 90 Minutes

Difficulty: Advanced

Prerequisites: Solid standard meathooks (working on reverse/backflag), Excellent Flexibility (shoulders, back, legs), 60 second handstand against the wall

Description: This workshop will get into some of the higher-level technique on straps, with a focus on high-flexibility sequencing, flairs, meathooks and transfers, as well as rollups. A significant amount of time will be focused on single-arms skills, so shoulders should be quite healthy. It is preferred that students will have had some previous training on straps before, but as long as they have been working on meathooks on another apparatus, they will be allowed. THIS WORKSHOP WORKS BEST WITH ADJUSTABLE POINT HEIGHTS IN THE STUDIO SPACE.

Pike Compression Masterclass

Duration: 90 Minutes

Difficulty: Beginner-Advanced (All Levels)

Prerequisites: Knees Straight/Fingers to Toes in forward-fold, 30 second Hollow-body

Description: The first half of this Masterclass will look into these questions: What is compression? What muscles are involved? Which must be strong (active) and which must be flexible (relaxed)? How is compression developed? Where am I at now in my compression journey, and what are the next steps? The second half utilizes the equipment available in the space (aerial apparatus, stall bars, etc) to understand how compression can be incorporated into your practise, and increasing compression can make various techniques easier and more aesthetic.
